Ahadu Unveils TenaFirst Plus: A Digital Health Platform with Pro Bono Services

Ahadu Web, a local IT firm, has introduced TenaFirst Plus, a digital health platform featuring pro bono services.

The platform, currently accessible on Android devices, provides telemedicine services through video and audio consultations, as well as in-person diagnoses via clinic appointments and homecare services. According to Abraham Assefa, CEO and founder of Ahdu, a decade-old IT firm, the development of TenaFirst Plus took over ten months.

The application facilitates consultations for 30 minutes, starting at 150 birr, with the amount increasing based on the doctor’s experience. The company operates on a commission basis, with TenaFirst receiving 20% of the doctor’s income from the platform.

Prior to the launch of TenaFirst, Ahadu was engaged in developing a digital clinic platform that enables clinics and hospitals to accept patient appointments online.

Ethiopia is preparing to enforce a mandatory national digital ID requirement to access select crucial government services. With nationwide implementation to be carried out in phases across government agencies, the move signals a paradigm shift where citizens without digital IDs will find themselves ineligible for these services.

Yodahe Zemichael, the Executive Director of Ethiopia’s National ID Program, shared in an interview with Shega that integrating some essential public services into the digital ID framework has been the long-term vision of the program.

ZayRide Partners with Addis Motor Taxi to Offer Motorcycle Ride-hailing Services in Ethiopia

The ride-hailing firm ZayRide has announced its partnership with a motorcycle ride-hailing startup Addis Motor Taxi, enabling users to book motorcycles through the ZayRide platform.

The partnership, which was signed on March 1st, 2023, aims to enable the two companies to leverage each other’s strengths, ensuring that their services are more reliable, accessible, and affordable to a broader range of customers in Addis Ababa and other regional cities of Ethiopia.

Telebirr Launches Credit, Saving, Overdraft Services

Ethio Telecom has launched its long-anticipated micro-credit (loan) and saving scheme through its Telebirr mobile money platform.

The state-owned telecom operator, in partnership with Dashen Bank, launched Telebirr Mela, Telebirr Sanduk, and Telebirr EndeKise, today at Skylight Hotel, August 5, 2022.

Telebirr Mela is a microloan service that allows users to take out small loans without collateral based on their credit score. Telebirr Sanduk enables users to save money and earn an interest of 7 p.c on it.

Meanwhile, Telebirr EndeKise allows users to overdraw on their telebirr account when they have insufficient funds to complete a transaction.
