Kubik, a startup based in Ethiopia and Kenya that specializes in converting plastic waste into building materials, has disclosed it has completed its seed funding round, raising $3.34 million.

In a Press release sent to Shega Kubik stated that it intends to use its new capital to increase production of building materials in Ethiopia before expanding to other countries in Africa.

Six Ethiopian Startups Receive 500K Birr Funding from NINIJA Accelerator

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of Ethiopia (MinT) are kicking off the NINIJA acceleration program with six Ethiopian startups landing 500,000 birr in funding.

The program, which aims to support exceptional startups that address social issues and contribute to economic growth and employment in Ethiopia, selected Taywan, Fibermart Trading, Gebeta Software, Guzo Technologies, Sehamch, and Wecare from around 100 applicants.

A2SV Receives Funding from Google

Africa to Silicon Valley (A2SV), an Addis Ababa-based Foundation that nurtures tech talent has announced that it has received funding from Google.

Google’s funding will allow A2SV, which has been operating out of Addis Ababa University, to establish a permanent office in Ethiopia and hire more heads of education and a product manager.
