Ethiopia Proposes 1.93 Trillion Birr Budget for 2018 Fiscal Year
The Ethiopian federal government has unveiled a 1.93 trillion birr budget proposal for the 2018 Ethiopian fiscal year, as announced by Finance Minister Ahmed Shide during a parliamentary session. The budget breakdown includes 1.2 trillion birr for recurrent expenditures, 415 billion birr for capital projects, and 315 billion birr allocated to support regional states. Additionally, 14 billion birr is earmarked for sustainable development goals at the regional level.
A significant policy shift was also announced: Addis Ababa will not be included in the list of subsidized regions and cities
