Communication technologies manufacturer, Ericsson said it has equipped the Millennium Village Project located in northern Ethiopia with network infrastructure and service to introduce voice and data communications.


Ericsson said, with access to 3G connectivity, more than 4,000 students and their teachers at two schools involved in the ‘Connect To Learn initiative’ now have access to modern learning and teaching resources through Ericsson’s cloud-computing solution.

community health workers in the Millennium Villages will also be able to use cell phones contributed by Sony Mobile and broadband connectivity arranged by Ericsson to render vital health care services directly to households and to gather health related information for follow up and monitoring purposes.

The Ethiopian Koraro Millennium Village has inadequate availability of communications technologies.However, Ericsson’s support has enabled the people in Koraro, Ethiopia to access “Connect To Learn” facilities through 3G connectivity technology.
