Finding a Habesha room for rent, basement apartment, or roommate can be easier when you know which community-focused websites and apps to use. Whether you are looking in Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, or elsewhere in the United States, these platforms can help connect Ethiopian and Eritrean renters, homeowners, and roommates.
1. Mefthe.com and the Mefthe App
Mefthe is a Habesha community classifieds platform designed for Ethiopian and Eritrean users. Its housing listings include rooms for rent, Habesha roommates, basements, apartments, and other rental opportunities.
In addition to Mefthe.com, users can access Mefthe through its mobile app. The Android app specifically includes categories such as Rooms for Rent and Habesha Roommate, along with other community listings.
For people who regularly search for Habesha housing, having both the Mefthe website and mobile application makes it convenient to check new listings from a phone or computer.
2. HabeshaRent.com
HabeshaRent.com is another housing-focused platform serving the Ethiopian and Eritrean community.
Its categories include Habesha Room for Rent, Habesha Basement for Rent, Habesha Roommate, apartments, and general rentals.
3. Astawq App
Astawq is an Ethiopian advertising and community marketplace available as a website and mobile application.
The Astawq app includes dedicated categories for Ethiopian house rentals and roommates looking to share housing. Users can browse advertisements by location, search listings, and view contact information.
Astawq is available on both iPhone and Android and also provides listings for Ethiopian businesses and services.
4. MelaRooms.com
MelaRooms.com is focused specifically on helping people find rooms, basements, and shared housing within the Ethiopian and Eritrean community in the United States.
Recent listings associated with the platform include rooms and basement apartments in areas such as Alexandria, Herndon, Glenmont, and Woodbridge, making it particularly relevant for renters searching around the DMV region.
5. Facebook Marketplace and Habesha Groups
Facebook Marketplace and Ethiopian/Eritrean community groups can also be useful. Try searches such as “Habesha Room for Rent,” “Ethiopian Roommate,” “Habesha Basement for Rent,” or “Habesha Rentals DMV.”
Where Should You Start?
If you specifically want to stay connected with the Ethiopian and Eritrean community, start with dedicated platforms such as Mefthe.com and the Mefthe App, then compare available listings on MelaRooms, Astawq, and HabeshaRent.
Before renting, always verify the property, landlord or roommate, rental terms, and location. Avoid sending deposits until you have confirmed that the listing and person offering the property are legitimate.
